I do minimal manipulation of the files that I take, trying only to match my preconception of the scene I photographed. Ansel Adams manipulated his black and white prints with the goal of recreating the perceptions he had at the scene. These perceptions are often not emphasized by the camera, but are seen only in the photographer's mind, "visualization" as he called it. A representation of these visualizations can be called forth from the negative by subtle changes in the printing of the image under the enlarger. In the same way I attempt to remain faithful to my original visualization of the scene.
The album that you see here has images from 6 different regions: Southern Ontario, Killarney Provincial Park, England 2005, the Newfoundland Northern Peninsula, Vancouver Island and New Mexico. You can click (possibly twice) on the blue square above the images to enlarge the index to full screen. If you click in the middle of an image, you will see a further enlargement, with any notes that go with the image. If you click above the album in the center of the arrows, a slide show starts. Click on the far right symbol, and you go back to the index of prints.
My etchings, wood engravings, and linocuts are on the Prints page.
